“Kvistikkergården” (plain english translation: The backyard of stabbing) had quite the reputation when I was going out in my early 20’s.
Now being 36, things have changed a lot since then.
People drink less, brawl less, go home earlier and yes, they even stab less than before. Oh how times fly..
We went to the newly opened “Pool” in Boltens gård to ask Manager, Sebastian, about his perspective on the young generation, the bar culture and not least, the culture of good old pool.

Location and Interior
We dropped in on a thursday afternoon. Spring vibes doing its thing on Gothersgade and sun was out.
My first impression was that Boltens Gård had gone through an upgrade and looked more neat and clean than I remembered.
Pool looked more than ready for a danish summer with their loungy courtyard with tables and chairs ready for people to enjoy a negroni and a game of rock, scissor, paper with friends.
Inside
The “closed – phone no: for deliveries”- sign was still visible on the door and being a little early, we decided to knock to check out if anyone was there.
No response, so we sneaked in to say hi.
We were greeted by a home felt
“Hi guys, I’ll be there in 2 seconds, just grab a seat and make yourself comfortable“.
The bar looked great. I have a work disorder of noticing every little detail behind a bar.
Nice selection of bottles, clean and organized, wide selection of beers and sodas, and a well decorated bar front.
Alexander Bøgild started his career within the bar industry back in 2012. He has worked at numerous cocktail bars, restaurants and hotels in Copenhagen, London and New York.
